When COVID hit and health sites closed, CHIP still found a way to serve the Los Angeles community: through providing childhood health education services. Working with local organization School on Wheels, whose mission is to help bridge the educational gap that unhoused students face, CHIP members developed an educational curriculum, assembled interactive experiment kits, created worksheets, and recorded Zoom videos to teach health and science topics to students.
The four topics covered in the Spring of 2021 were oral hygiene, the immune system, heart health, and lung health, with many more in the works for this new semester. Our members had a lot of fun getting their creative juices flowing, and the students had a lot of fun learning and building!
